Global Connected Healthcare Cybersecurity Risks and Roadmap
Download Breakout Summary (PDF)
The first workshop in the series has set the tone, identifying security and privacy risks in connected healthcare and clinical IoT, and has considered the potential technology and policy roadmap to mitigate these risks. We will identify the most important threat vectors, how they are changing, and the technology, policy and process recommendations to address them. Risks and threats at the device, data, communications, software, cloud and system level, as well as interoperability across the system of systems, we identified from both enterprise IT and clinical operational security perspectives. A technology and policy roadmap to mitigate the risks including potential advanced technology solutions was discussed, with recommendations on next steps including standards activities and input to future workshops. Learnings included:
- Understanding security, privacy, ethics and trust risks in connected healthcare and IoT
- Advanced technologies which may be leveraged to address the risks, such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, and hardware/firmware/software security advances
- Technology and policy considerations for connected healthcare cybersecurity risk mitigation
- Software and Hardware Supply Chain Security, and proactive risk mitigation integration that organizations can utilize to better protect themselves in light of events like SolarWinds
