Welcome New Standards Committee (NesCom) Members
Welcome to NesCom. Below you will find helpful resources and links to familiarize yourself with the committee and your role as a committee member.
NesCom is a standing committee of the IEEE SA Standards Board. This committee shall be responsible for ensuring that:
- proposed Project Authorization Requests (PARs) are within the scope and purpose of the IEEE,
- standards projects are assigned to the proper Society or other organizational body,
- interested parties are appropriately represented in the development of a proposed PAR.
NesCom shall examine PARs for each scheduled meeting and make recommendations to the IEEE SA Standards Board regarding their approval. NesCom meets at least six times a year (3 in-person/hybrid and 3 virtual teleconference).
The NesCom review process is automated using a tool called myProject. Once you log into the myProject system, using your web account username and password, you will have access to the NesCom Member Area.
Approximately one month prior to each meeting a notification will be sent announcing the beginning of the comment review period. At this point you can log into myProject to review the submitted PARs and make comments.
The NesCom Administrator monitors all submitted comments and must approve the initial comment in order for it to be posted and viewable to Standards Committee. The Submitter of the PAR is copied on the comments and has a chance to respond to your comments.
Note: A reflector has been created for committee use, [email protected].
Questions should be directed to Teresa Belmont, NesCom Administrator at [email protected].
