From 30 January 2018 to 2 February 2018, the kick-off meeting of IEEE P2671™ On-line Detection Working Group (IEEE/C/SAB/OD_WG) and the IEEE P2672™ Mass Customization Working Group (IEEE/C/SAB/ MC_WG) had been held in Beijing back to back. The WG meetings were hosted by China Electronics Standardization Institute (CESI) with more than 30 representatives from enterprises and universities presented. These two standard projects are a milestone of collaboration between IEEE Standards Association (IEEE SA) and Standardization Administration of the People’s Republic of China (SAC). Dr. Victoria Wang, China Strategic Lead of IEEE SA, Bill Ash, Strategic Technology Program Director of IEEE SA and Meng Zhao, Standard Manager of IEEE China Office also presented at the meeting.
To promote international standardization of intelligent manufacturing, CESI, Haier Group, Infineon Technologies (China) Co., Ltd. and EVOC Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd. jointly submitted project proposals for “Standard for General Requirements of Online Detection based on Machine Vision in Intelligent Manufacturing (IEEE P2671)” and “Guide for General requirements of Mass customization (IEEE P2672)” to IEEE. The two IEEE standard proposals were approved on 7 December 2017. Dr. Jonathan Chang from Infineon Technologies (China) Co., Ltd., and Dr. Sha Wei from China Electronics Standardization Institute, served as the chair of the IEEE P2671 Working Group and IEEE P2672 Working Group, respectively.
The two working groups approved working group policy and procedure respectively and developed a work plan for future work. Based on the contributions from CESI, Haier Group, Infineon Technologies (China) Co., Ltd., EVOC Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd., Skyverse Limited and Xi’an Jiaotong University, the tentative standard outlines were formed.
At the same time, Yuhang Cheng from CESI is elected to be secretary of IEEE P2671 while Xiaohu Wang from Haier Group is elected to be secretary of IEEE P2672.
The next face-to-face working group meetings will be organized in early April 2018 in Shanghai back to back.
The entities participating in this meeting are CESI, Haier Group, Infineon Technologies (China) Co., Ltd., EVOC Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd., Shenzhen Zhongke Fly Measurement Technology Co., Ltd., Xi’an Jiaotong University, China Ocean University and EasyCare Group. We welcome all to join the two working groups if you are interested in intelligent on-line detection and mass customization. Learn more about IEEE P2671 and IEEE P2672 today.
